Gatineau Park is a special place that I discovered as a teenager after coming back from a 4 year stay in Zimbabwe, Africa. I remember being awed by its beauty, lushness and the way it made me feel. Adjusting to Canada was difficult, I felt like a foreigner in my own country. Being in nature all the stresses and worries would melt away and I was left feeling joy and contentment.
The works created for this collection are a reflection of the inner states the landscapes evoke within me. The colours represent how I feel when I’m immersed in that moment. If there is a purpose to my art, it is to help the viewer connect to nature and embrace the joy within themselves. To remind us to be present and connect to our true nature, joy.
